I spent one morning on Answers at http://www.answers.yahoo.com/. In my quest to become an expert I decided to gift my wonderful advice and experience to others who are out there in the world struggling and wondering what to do next. Here is my advice to someone who asked: How to get over a 24 yr relationship?
I'd love your feedback on the advice I gave and also what is your advice to this question.
One moment at a time.
Find a hobby keeping busy is one of the keys to keeping that relationship off your mind. Your hobby distracts in a three fold method of physical and mental and emotional
- Overindulge in something once a month (chocolate, food, too much tv. Spoil yourself for one day by staying in bed and sleeping.)
- Find one get over song and when you feel that "oh boy i'm thinking about the relationship again" play the song to give yourself hope.
- Go out with friends and/or family. Don't ever seclude yourself away. That's dangerous.
- Get spiritual. Church, just reading the Bible, yoga, meditation, whatever. Sing to your soul and your soul will lift.
- Journal. Talking to oneself is a way to re-get to know yourself and know what you want for yourself the next go round if it happens.
I did a "Get over him " series on my blog post that offer other suggestions and I hope the ones I just gave you help.
My Daddy used to say if you want to make people jealous for not being with you, be happy. that sounds odd, but actually your internal happiness and peace will shine for all
