National Cares Mentoring Movement

I am honored to be part of this organization started by Susan Taylor, former Editor-in-Chief of Essence magazine that is creating a new paradigm for helping our youth.  Mentoring has been proven to play a major role in the success that many have achieved in their lives, and is a vital tool that will help us guarantee that our valuable future, our children, is provided with the necessary resources to thrive in adulthood and continue to lead our nation.

Our Children are the future and time invested today, can help prevent many of the youth from becoming statistics of inadequated education, imprisonment, teen-parents, homeless, unemployed, etc. We can make a difference, one child at a time and I invite you to join this campaign as we roll out chapters in cities across this nation.

Let's ensure that the freedom we fought for will be available for our youth, who will set the course of this nation's tomorrow!

Please join the local chapter of this organization, the Detroit Cares Mentoring Movement, and help us reach out to the youth in the Metropolitan-Detroit area. If you want to learn how you can help mentor our youth, please send an email or you can contact me at (313) 402-4997.

Greetings!

holiday
It's hard to believe that half of 2010 is already over! WOW - how the time flies by.

I hope you will have time to enjoy being with friends and family this holiday weekend, and take time to reflect on our nation's independence. Can you imagine, some 234 years ago, we fought to obtain our independence? Independence for an economy without taxation, religious beliefs and practices, civil liberties, self-governing authority and so much more for our nation.

Today, America is a much different place. We have experienced many changes in everything from the agriculture to the industrial to the technological revolution, and there are still more changes occurring, only now much more rapidly!

In the study of numbers and numerology,  each number represents a certain aspect of our journey of life. For each number, you add the digits making up that number to reach a single digit of 1 - 9. For example, 234 would become 9 (2+3+4). Nine represents endings and changes, and as a nation we have seen many thing end and/or change in this past year. We saw an end to the stability of our economy as we have once known it, our banking system, our education systems in many urban cities, manufacturing replaced with technology and information, and so much more.

Change is always a constant, and it is imperative that we look at our personal lives so that we can embrace these changes around us.
Are you truly living Independently?
We are fortunate to live in a country that has more personal freedom and civil liberties than most other countries. But some of us on a personal level, are not really experiencing our freedom. We allow fear or pain from past experiences to keep us from moving forward. We all have experienced situations that we wish had not occurred, such as failed relationships, lost employment, etc. but we can't allow these situations to impose limitation on our future. So ask yourself during this Independence Holiday season, "Am I truly living life on my terms, or am I living "safe" to avoid disappointment or pain from past memories?

Many times we place self-imposed chains on our value, our worth and our capabilities based on beliefs, fears or ideas given to us from our childhood. Take time to reflect and ask yourself if you are still making choices as an adult based on what you determined was good for your survival when you were a child. Are you using the same behavior patterns from the past to avoid what "might happen" versus trusting your inner-self and freely taking the actions to achieve your goals now? Don't let fear hold you back from achieving your goals. Past failures simply allow you to learn what not to do, so you can achieve your goal and dreams.

Our behavior is a direct manifestation of what we believe about ourselves, so in order to live freely without limitation from our past requires that we honestly review and assess our behavior. Nothing can hold you back from what you desire in life other than YOU and what you believe you are worthy to have.

Although we have not had to fight a literal civil war, it sometimes requires warfare in our minds when we want to break free and live beyond limiting fears and doubts that try and keep us from fulfilling our dreams.

Keep believing and achieving - all things are possible!
